Formed as a trio sometime around 2010, Binah stemmed from the members’ unfettered passion for the original Death Metal sound, and its consolidation around the late eighties to early nineties. Influenced by the various stylistic currents both sides of the Atlantic, its purpose was to honour the legacy of the old greats while carving songs that felt special and unique to band and listeners alike.
Whether drawing sonic and thematic inspiration from occult tradition, obscure literature or more earthly-based concerns and personal experience, each step the journey has been one of exploration and intrigue. True to its moniker, the band’s path has remained devoted to the pursuit of acknowledging and understanding some of life’s half-shaded recesses.
Binah debuted with acclaimed full-length Hallucinating in Resurrecture, followed by the A Triad of Plagues 7” EP. A few years later, sophomore album Phobiate came out, and was tailed by the band’s first ever demo cassette, Amorte. Four years in the making, Ónkos now marks Binah’s third full-length and fifth official release.
