With its origins in 1991, Funeral Winds is one the longest running Black Metal bands on European soil. Staying true to its roots and bringing Black Metal with full conviction, even after 30 years the black flame of Satan still burns fiery and bright within this entity named Funeral Winds.
After three demos, a 7” EP and a split CD with Japanese band Abigail, Funeral Winds entered the studio in 1995 to record it’s first full length album named ‘Godslayer Xul’. Due to the bankruptcy of the label and the arrest of the main person in the band for attempted manslaughter the album was only released three years later in 1998.
Not counting the compilation albums: ‘The Unheavenly Saviour’ and ‘Screaming For Resurrection’, a total of 6 albums have been released so far. ‘Godslayer Xul’, ‘Koude Haat’, ‘Nexion Xul – The Cursed Bloodline’, ‘Sinister Creed’, ‘Essence’ and most recent in 2021: ‘Gruzelementen’.
Having reduced from a ‘full band’ to a ‘one man band’ on the later albums, the only remaining and original member of Funeral Winds anno 2022 is Hellchrist Xul, who is currently working on the 7th full length album by Funeral Winds. This forthcoming album shall be released on no other than Osmose Productions.
