GJENDØD

GJENDØD was formed as a two-piece black metal band in Trondheim, Norway, late 2015. The two members, K and KK, had played together before in many bands and projects since the nineties, and there was always the plan of creating black metal the way they themselves thought it should sound like.

The first demo was recorded early 2016, fast followed by the recording of their debut «Nedstigning».

The following years Gjendød released three more albums. «Krigsdøger», «Angrep» and «I utakt med verden». They also released a couple of EP’s, and some demo tapes, for the sake of it, to try out different recording -and composition- processes.

A third member was added in 2022. TK came in on drums so KK could fully concentrate on bass and vocals. TK had played with the members before in different projects, so he was not a new acquaintance. His first mission was to play on and record four songs, that became the ‘Hevn!’-demo. After that the band started to work on the album Livskramper (Osmose Productions 2024), where he also composed some music.

Svekkelse is the sixth full-length album (2025) from the Trondheim based black metal band Gjendød. The second album as a three-piece.
Svekkelse continues where the previous album Livskramper quit, but this time, the band has turned it all up a notch. The band never worked with their compositions with such an intensity before. The eight songs presented goes from epic to deranged, from technical to primitive, and from sheer passiveness to outraged despair. The lyrics are inspired by dark local lore and legends, both self experienced and learned. This might be the strongest album by Gjendød to now, again draped by the crushing sounds of the infamous NordStern studios.

Gjendød compose black metal with different variation and expression, but still with their own feet stuck in the mud. If you know some of the band’s records, you might hear it is Gjendød, even though the style and recordings sound very different from eachother.
