THE PAST AND THE PRESENT
When black metal’s 2nd wave created waves in the early 1990’s, a lot of us were influenced by the spirit and the music of the scene as well as the lyrics and the often mystic atmosphere. We also shared that antichristian mentality. And thus Nightside was founded in Turku, Finland, 1996.
However, the band’s first era lasted only for a few years. During those times the band did a demo, 7” ep and an album. Nightside split up around 2003. All the members continued with other bands and projects.
In 2021 something happened and the band was back with a new line-up, yet still with two original members. A comeback gig was played in early 2022, followed by more gigs in later years. Later some new songs were written.
A new album was released in 2024 with praising reviews via Purity Through Fire. In July 2025 the band recorded a new demo featuring three new tracks for their upcoming third album. More new songs await being finished and recorded. The band also aims to do more shows in the foreseeable future.
